This is the peak time for parents to look for lessons for their kids once school start. This post probably not relevant to the current students, but to help the prospective students.

Recently I received more and more questions regarding at what age we should start the little ones on piano lesson. This is really a million dollars questions!

It depends on your little ones and your family. You can ask yourself a few questions and that may help.

1) Is your little one ready? Does he/she show interests in music and eager to learn? For the younger ones, can they sit for a 30 mins lesson? Most piano lessons start with 30 mins.

2) Are you ready to take him/her every week at the same time to attend lessons? Parents' commitment plays a huge part in learning any instrument.

3) Can you provide a schedule that he/she can practice? He/she may need your help to guide them through the books at the beginning.

4) Set a goal and find the right teacher. Sometimes, location, budget, time availability, teacher's education and experience, teacher's personality, etc plays a role when finding the right fit.

In my experience, I would say it is usually a good time when kids start school, so about age 5 to 6. Younger ones (pre-schoolers) may benefit more to start in group music class, but some age 4 if mature are doing well too in one-on-one lesson.
