School has started, September seems to have passed like a storm...we are back to routine, following the busy schedule...Hope your school year has a good start and will have a successful year.
The start of school year
It is the best time to do some planning. Do we need to plan that far ahead and plan for the whole year? Simply yes...There are lots of important dates every year in the musical world. Music festivals, examinations, studio recital, etc...all need planning. That's the reason you would receive my assessment and my planning for each of the student. This way, we have a goal to work together on and you know what to expect for the year.
Music Festival
The music festival we usually go to is VAYA International Music Festival. Last time we had very good results to all of our participants, so this school year, I would like to continue sending students to them. The Festival is most likely in May, when there is more details, I will share with you. What you need to decide is whether you would like to go and tell me as soon as you can. There are lots of preparation work to do to get you in shape on this. If May is not a good time for you, there are other festivals in other months, again you need to communicate with me what you would like to do.
Examinations
Examination is happening in January, April, June and August. Registration usually is 2 - 3 months before that, therefore, well planning is also needed. Examination tests on musicianship, therefore, there are also lots to prepare for.
Recital
Our annual studio recital will be in May. Can you believe that I have already booked the venue? Yes, it does require that early of a booking because it is difficult to find a place with a good piano and also a place that can fit our studio size. In December, as usual, we will have a recorded recital, so this month or next, we will choose pieces to practice. In the past years, we mostly chose Christmas songs and I found that a lot of this generation do not actually know Christmas songs! This year, I can assign pieces for you to play, or you can bring in pieces that you want to play and I would determine if that's your proper level.
Happy planning!
