How is everyone doing during this isolation period? Hope you found yourself having more time to spend with family and have a stronger bond.

As a piano teacher and in the music industry, I see benefits in this period of time. I see many teachers have found new ways to teach and the whole community has come together.

Some changes have been seen during this time and these changes probably will last.

Here are some benefits/changes I can see.

1. Teachers have moved to online teaching and have learnt new technologies in a very short period of time. I would say this will become an option for some people and it will be a good option for make up lessons in the future.

2. Community has come together. There are lots of workshops from music stores and teachers to help on learning new technologies. I can see more of these types of workshop being held online in the future.

3. Examination has moved to online platform. This is really new to many people as traditional exams have always been an in-person experience. I am sure this will benefit some students who live far from the examination center, that would be continued in the future.

4. Festival is being held in video format and adjudicators would give out comments in emails. This is also a new thing as we don't have live audience to hear our performance, but this is also an option to keep things going and students can get what they need as the experience and the comments from adjudicators.

World has kept changing and we are glad that there are options and with new technologies, many things can still be done when we have to isolate. Hope to see you soon again in person, I still prefer in-person lesson with the interaction.
